Just in case you wondered: 2008 Little League baseball schedule
Want to play a game?
June 27, 2008 WOW! It's been almost two months since I've updated here. Sorry about that, but what's a guy to do when he's as busy as I've been?!? Let me think back on what's happened. School ended for the year early this month! YEA! I ended up getting pretty good grades so Mom and Dad were happy. I found out that two friends from my class will be going to Sidener Academy with me next year, so that was cool! I had a week off from the time school ended until I went to a couple of gifted and talented camps through school. The first week was Robot camp. It was cool! We all made a little robot that we got to bring home. Mine isn't working right so Dad's going to help me see if we can fix it. The next week was Camp Invention. It was tight! We did all sorts of cool stuff like Recess Remix, Sludge City, M.A.R.S. (Moving at Rocket Speed), Art Park. Then last week I started at the YMCA Day Camp where my mom works. I did science camp and had a great time. This week was all boys camp for me. I had lots of fun again. This week was kinda weird around here because Dad is in New Orleans on a missions trip. I wanted to go, but I'm too young. Plus Mickey was at Down syndrome camp all week. I miss Dad and I missed Mickey till we picked her up this morning. I did kinda enjoy being an only kid for a week. Mom and I did some fun stuff this week like playing Indiana Jones Lego game and just hanging out together. I'm glad Mickey's home, though! And Dad comes home tomorrow! YEA! But before Dad comes home, Mom and Mickey and I are going to pick up my cool cousin Sydney so he can spend the night. We're going to go see Kung Fu Panda and get all packed up for our family trip to Gatlinburg on Sunday. I think we've been planning this trip for a few years. I can't believe it's finally here! Oh yeah, I almost forgot - the 2008 Minor Boys Red Sox of Lowell Little League went undefeated!!! It was a great season. I ended up with 3 hits and a few foul tips, so I was pretty stoked. I got to play a bunch of different positions, too, so that was fun! Tomorrow night is trophy night, so I'll get to see my team again. Well, that's about it for now. Hopefully I will update again before another two months go by. But if I don't and you want to know what's going on with me, just drop me an e-mail at brad@deputyfamily.net.
April 30, 2008 WOOHOO! Today is my birthday! I'm 9 years
old now! Just 7 years till I can drive!! I had just about
the most awesome birthday possible! I woke up early and woke Dad
up so I could open my birthday presents. Mickey got me a super
cool Pokemon book and Mom and Dad got me a Lego set I really
wanted. Plus I got money from Grandma and Grandpa Bennett, Grandma
and Grandpa Deputy and Aunt Joy and Uncle Brian. It's part of the
Mars Mission series and is way cool! Then Mom and Dad took us to
school so I didn't have to ride the bus. Our class got to go to an
Indianapolis Indians game today with about 1000 other IPS
students. I sat between two of my best friends and Mom and Dad sat
behind me. Yep, Mom and Dad took the day off work to go to the
game with me. In the middle of the 5th inning, Mom started yelling
for me to look at the scoreboard. This is what I saw: Oh, yeah, I'm cool! I made the scoreboard!! I got to see Rowdie and get his autograph on the squishy baseball I won when I spun the wheel. I gave it to my buddy because he'd never been to an Indians game. The only downer was that the Indians lost. After the game Mom met us at school to make nachos for our class to go along with my cupcakes. Mrs. Tallent let me leave a few minutes early. The day couldn't get much better. But wait! It does get better! Mom let me help grill the hamburgers for dinner. Then Dad and I went to my game while Mom and Mickey went to church for kids' choir. The first time up to bat I got hit on the back by the pitch. It hurt for a little while, but not too bad. I played left field, right field, and 3rd base. Then I got to bat again. And it finally happened!!!! I GOT A HIT!!!!! It landed a little bit in front of 2nd base and then rolled way past it! I got to first. I stole 2nd. Then I stole 3rd. I didn't get to go home because my team scored 5 runs while I was on 3rd and that's the limit. But you should have heard the people in the bleachers yell!!! They were all excited - almost as excited as Mom was when Dad handed me the phone when I got back to the dugout. She yelled so loud!! The last inning the coach swapped the outfield and the infield, so I got to play 2nd base. I had a blast! We won the game 12-2. But wait! It gets even better. When we huddled up after the game, my team sang Happy Birthday to me. And I got a game ball! The coaches give a game ball to the player or players who did extra good during the game. Since I got my first hit in 2 seasons, they gave me the team ball. We got home before Mom and Mick so I decided to play a trick on Mom. I asked her to help me look for my mitt. I told her I thought I left it in the family room. So she picked it up and looked inside it to find my game ball! She gave me a giant hug and started crying. She's such a girl! Dad and I pulled a fast one on her!! :) After that fun, we had cake and ice cream. Mom made me a Pokeball cake. It was really good! Dad and I worked on my Lego set for a long time tonight and now it's bedtime. A couple more things - I had a great time with Aunt Jackie and Grant last week going up to see Jake. Aunt Jackie took me shopping and I got a couple of Pokemon toys and Grant got me a Pokemon movie. Tomorrow night is karate testing. Saturday night we're going out to eat because Mom and Dad said we'd go out for dinner at Texas Roadhouse (one of my favorite places for cheeseburgers) when I got my first hit. Plus we'll celebrate Mom doing the Mini that morning and we'll celebrate my birthday that night. It's going to be busy at Texas Roadhouse!! Then we'll get up early Sunday morning to head to karate tournament. I'll update after that to show you all the trophies I'm gonna win!
April 25, 2008 YEA! My dad came home from Wisconsin last night. Actually it was very early this morning, like around 1:00 AM. I tried to wait up for him, but Mom made me go to sleep around 11:00. I really missed him! All week I would draw a face on the steamy mirror in the bathroom after my shower. It started out as a sad face, then it was a straight-line mouth face, then yesterday it was a big ol' smiley face! He brought me a Lego Mission to Mars set. I already built the bad guy's ship this morning before school. It is a cool set! Let's see, what else has happened this week....Oh yeah, Monday Mickey and I went with Mom to the send off party for the TNT Mini Marathon team. We had lots of fun and ate lots of food! I had some of Mom's cheesy spaghetti. YUM! I got a TNT t-shirt because I helped out so much getting things set up. I am now part of TEAM Indiana! How cool is that?!? Then I had a game Wednesday night. We played the Cubs again and won again. I got on base once and stole to 3rd. I got tagged out on the way home. I had a couple of really good plays in the field. I got a ball the 3rd baseman missed and threw it to 2nd to get the runner out. Then I was backing up the 3rd baseman and picked up a missed ball. I threw it to him and he got the runner out. Left field was more exciting this week than normal. Also I got Burger King for lunch on Thursday. Why, you ask? Because I scored 100% on my language arts benchmark test, that's why! She hasn't told us our math scores yet. Maybe she's waiting till she gets paid so she can buy me lunch again. I don't know! Well, that's about it for now. I have a game at 8:00 tonight. We get to play under the lights. But we're playing the Mets and I don't like their coach. He yells at his players the whole time and it gets annoying. Tomorrow I play the Yankees and then get to go with Aunt Jackie and Grant to go visit Jake at Purdue and bring some of his stuff home. That should be fun! I love my cousins. And my aunt! Aunt Jackie will take me out for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Did you see the ticker at the top of my page? Less than one week till my birthday!! YEA!
April 20, 2008 O.K., this was a busy weekend. You may want to put on a seat belt to try to keep up with me this weekend. It all started a couple days ago. But I bet you already figured that out. You are so smart. Syd came and spent the night. That in and of itself would make this one of my favorite all time weekends, but that was just the start. We got up real early Saturday morning and left for the Komen breast cancer walk. Yea, Uh huh, I did a 5K walk. That is 3.1 miles for those of you who don't feel like doing the math. But because my schedule was so booked and Mom and Dad have been drilling "fulfill your commitments" into my head and this is what I committed to first, I had to miss the Little League opening day parade. Luckily my game wasn't until 3:00 PM so I had plenty of time to have lunch, again with Syd, and make it to my game. Speaking of the game we played against my old Royal Rangers Commander Russell's team. It was really cool seeing Noah again (his son). I didn't get a hit this game, but I'm still trying. I got on base twice through walks, then I stole 6 bases. So two runs were scored by me. I played in the outfield, but nothing was hit my way so there wasn't much exciting going on there. What was so cool was the before the game the team was warming up using my bat then some of the best players on my team used my bat in the game. So although I didn't hit the ball, my bat sure did. That made me feel really good. Since I had such a good attitude during the game, Mom and Dad let me choose where we had dinner and I chose Q'doba. I love cheese quesadillas!!!! I'm not sure, but somehow that feels redundant. Then we went home and I watched an episode or two of one of our family's favorite shows: Dirty Jobs. Then I crashed into dream land. O.K. that seems like a whole weekend's worth of stuff and that was only one day. So onto Sunday. Again we got up real early. And again a 5K race was involved, only this time I wasn't participating; I was volunteering. It was the Best Buddies 5K Dash for Friendship. Best Buddies is a group that pairs special needs kids and adults with non-special needs people in places like school and out in the real world. We manned (and womanned and kidded) the water stop. Mom and Dad setup the volunteer things and I get to work with adults and they always remark how hard I work and how well I obey. Then we headed to church. I worked in Kids Rock Too. Usually I go to Kids Rock then volunteer in Kids Rock Too, but today was a little different. I always have a great time at church. Again adults tell me how great I am and depend on me to get jobs done. And no, my head doesn't swell!! Do you realize it's only about 1:00 pm by this time? Then we were off again. I had a College Mentor's end of year banquet to go to. So unless Sean comes to one of my baseball games this year, this will be the last time I get to see my Big Buddy from University of Indianapolis. He has been my buddy for the last two years and I'm really sad. Then when we got home I had to clean up my room. (YUCK) then I went riding my bike around the neighborhood. Mom went to the store and got TV dinners for Mickey and I, and of course picked up a movie to go along with it. It was pretty good, only one of the characters died and that was kind of a bummer. Then I had to go to bed. Tomorrow is school, I heard once that all good things must come to an end. Dad put a link to my baseball schedule at the top of this page. Feel free to check it out and come see me play sometime. I love having fans in the stands!
April 10, 2008 I know it has been a long time, but I'm finally updating. Because of Spring Break at Great Wolf Lodge last week I had to to two Karate classes tonight. It was pretty cool. I won three kick drill for my line in both my classes. I still have some practicing to do, but I'm getting close to being ready for tournament.
February 29, 2008 (part 2) THIS JUST IN!! I LOST A TOOTH!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE TOOTH FAIRY BRINGS ME!!
February 29, 2008 I think today is cool. Leap Day. An extra day. Very cool. Too bad I don't feel like leaping. I've been sick. It started Wednesday night after church when I started throwing up. I threw up allllll night long. I hate throwing up. Then yesterday I stopped spewing and started burning up. I had a fever all day. Today I'm feeling some better, some not so I stayed home. Mom is having me rest and take it easy but I still have to read and do some make up homework. I finished swim lessons last week and went from a minnow to a guppy! The new session starts tomorrow. I hope I feel good enough to do it. I love swimming! In fact, last week we went to Indy Island with a group from church. Indy Island is an indoor water park. They have one big slide that is ridiculously awesome! I loved it and we all had a blast! Check out the book my dad got me. It's called The Dangerous Book for Boys. We're going to have a lot of fun with it! We already started working on tying knots. My dad is so cool! Well, that's about it for now. I gotta rest up. CU!
January 19, 2008 So far today has been a great day. I had swim lessons this morning and I had a blast. I can't wait until next week. Monday's a day off school. So I'm in the middle of a three day weekend. I bet you are jealous. I'm helping Mickey learn karate so when she starts later this winter she will have a head start. It really feels good to teach. Have a great day.
January 16, 2008 I know, I haven't posted for a while. Mom keeps a pretty good record of all our lives on Mickey's page, but I had to share this: Tonight at church I met this girl who looked familiar. So I told her she looks familiar. She asked where do I know her from and I said I think it was from Christmas Carol at IRT. She said I was right. She was Tiny Tim. How cool it that? Well I hope to post more. But that's all for now.
December 8, 2007 Well, Dad has moved onto my page. What do you think? I love Garfield. Hope you come back every day to read his comic. I haven't really played Hungry Bob yet, but I will and if it s fun I'll leave it, if not I'll find something else. BTW - I am now a brown belt in Karate. I bought a training club, now Dad can fight back when we practice. Oh yeah, now I need to practice my blocks.
