We are home and almost thawed out from Brad’s first horse riding lesson. The lesson takes place in an indoor arena, but it’s not heated, so the 13* outside caused the temperature to hover near flippin’ cold inside. Brad’s lesson went very well. He got his horse, Lady Dancer, out of her stall and walked her around the arena before brushing her and checking her feet. Then he helped saddle her and put her bridle on. He walked her around the arena several times before mounting her to start riding. He didn’t have anyone leading him this time. He was in control. It was so neat to watch him controlling this majestic animal. He rode for nearly 30 minutes working on establishing himself as the boss. The stable owner told him that next week he needs to be less distracted and follow directions quicker. Aside from that she said he did pretty well for his first time. I think this is going to be very good for him! I tried to get a picture, but it was too dusty so it didn’t work. Maybe next week….

What an Awesome Week
This week was a monumental week at the Deputy house. After five years of hard work and dedication Brad received his black belt in karate. This is an incredible event considering he is only 10 years old. It is a image that will be ingrained in my mind forever. Brad walking up the his instructor, bowing to each other, shaking hands and having Mr. Rick tie his belt on. This was so cool to see, and he now has something to look back on to remind himself that he can persevere and with hard work he can complete a difficult task. We are all so proud of him. If you want to send him a note of encouragement he would really appreciate it. His e-mail is Brad at Deputyfamily.net.
