I’m not used to having to put a title on my entries. We didn’t have that feature on the old format. I should have Brad help me since he’s very creative with things like this.
Speaking of Brad, he had his riding lesson tonight. He is gaining confidence each week. It’s fun to watch him! Wednesday will be Michaela’s turn to ride. It’s going to be so cold that night, I think I’ll stay home with Brad and let Michael take her.
On Friday I start my temporary job with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will be going to area elementary schools doing assemblies to get the kids fired up about the Pennies for Patients program. I am rather nervous about this as it’s unlike anything I’ve done before. But I figure once I do the first one, the other 8 will be much easier!!
We all had a wonderful Christmas break. We enjoyed all the time we had together as a family. I found myself missing the kids today as they were back in school. Now we’ll get back into the groove of horse riding lessons, homework and school. Speaking of horse riding lessons, Brad did excellent tonight at his lesson. Michael and I were both amazed at how well he controlled the horse. He is getting more comfortable and worked on trotting a bit. Mickey is waiting patiently for her lesson on Wednesday.
Good morning! Welcome to 2009! That’s about it – nothing deep and philosophical, no great nostalgia…just Happy New Year!
We’ve had a great Christmas break so far. Cousin Sydney was with us from Saturday till yesterday. There was a lot of Wii playing, movie watching, Lego playing, and boy talking going on. We rang in the new year with our friends Tim and Shelly. We played Wii and Rummikub and ate lots of good food.
Michael and Mickey just got home from a grocery store run. They brought home cinnamon rolls and Starbucks for breakfast (yes, we are eating breakfast at 11:00 since we slept till 10:00). We’ll have pizza and breadsticks for dinner. It’s going to be a fun lazy day to start the new year. I’m off to eat a cinnamon roll. May God bless you in 2009!!
After several thwarted attempts to get their parents out of bed in the middle of the night to open presents, Brad and Mickey finally roused us at 7:00 AM. They made quick work of their stockings and then took turns opening presents. After a breakfast of yummy sausage gravy, compliments of Michael, we took some homemade cinnamon rolls up to the nurses on the cancer floor at Riley Hospital. It was good seeing some of our favorites today. They enjoyed seeing a healthy, happy Mickey.
Speaking of Mickey being healthy, she is certainly on the mend from her ear infection. The Zithromax did the trick.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
Our weekend was as great as I had expected. Breakfast with Santa was fun. The food was plentiful and good! Both kids won a door prize, so they were excited. After breakfast we took Mickey to Aunt Joy’s since she decided she didn’t want to go see “A Christmas Carol” with us. (Aunt Joy and Uncle Brian graciously agreed to keep Mickey and cousin Sam so the rest of us could go. Thanks, Joy and Brian!!) We all met at Indiana Repertory Theater for the afternoon performance of Christmas Carol. It was as wonderful as always. I think Michael and I have seen it 6 out of the past 7 years. We never tire of it and always feel like Christmas is really here once we see it. After the play, we all headed to Denny’s for a fun dinner before everyone had to head back to their homes. Today our drama team performed “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_Christmas_Pageant_Ever). It was a great story and very well-done. We spent the rest of the afternoon watching football and just hanging out together. The relaxing afternoon was great since we have another one of those weeks where something is happening every evening.

Do you like the new format? I think it’s pretty cool! Michael changed it so we’ll be able to update from any computer instead of having to do it from home. Thanks, Michael!!
We had a great evening. Tonight was awards at karate. Mickey is now a senior yellow belt and Brad is a red belt. Two more semesters and Brad will be a black belt!! Tonight was also Brad’s school’s Christmas program. It was a great program. All the kids did a wonderful job.
Remember the free horse riding lesson Mickey and Brad had last week? Well, thanks to the genorosity of the stable owner, they are going to be able to continue their lessons weekly at no charge to us. Mickey had her first full-hour lesson last night. Michael said she had a great time. She had the horse trotting most of her lesson and was loving it. Brad starts his lessons Monday evening. He is very excited!
We are looking forward to a fun weekend. Saturday morning will be breakfast with Santa at Arni’s restaurant. Then Mickey is going to spend the day with Uncle Brian, Aunt Joy and cousin Sam while the rest of the Deputy family and my mom go to see “A Christmas Carol”. (Mickey decided she didn’t want to see it this year.) We love this musical and look forward to it every year. It really puts us in the Christmas spirit!
